For centuries, the Koh-i-Noor diamond has set man against man and king against king.
Now part of the British Crown Jewels, the priceless gem is a prize that many have killed to possess.
So when the Crown Jewels go on display in Mumbai, security is everyone’s principal concern. And yet, on the very day Inspector Chopra visits the exhibition, the diamond is stolen from under his nose.
The heist was daring and seemingly impossible. The hunt is on for the culprits. But it soon becomes clear that only one man — and his elephant — can possibly crack this case…

Meet the author:  I first saw an elephant lumbering down the middle of the road in 1997 when I arrived in the city of Mumbai, India to work as a management consultant. It was the most unusual sight Vaseem Khan author picI had ever encountered and served as the inspiration behind my Baby Ganesh series of light-hearted crime novels. I was born in London in 1973, went on to gain a Bachelors degree in Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics, before spending a decade on the subcontinent helping one of India’s premier hotel groups establish a chain of five-star environmentally friendly ‘ecotels’ around the country. I returned to the UK in 2006 and have since worked at University College London for the Department of Security and Crime Science where I am continually amazed at the way modern science is being used to tackle crime. Elephants are third on my list of passions, first and second being great literature and cricket, not always in that order.

Inspector Chopra (Retd) is back again with a case that is a worthy of a Bollywood movie. His faithful companion, baby elephant Ganesha are on the trail of the Queen’s crown!
From an evil mother-in-law to a crack-shot policewoman, this story is full of new characters, some heinous and some endearing.
Inspector Chopra, a former long-time (and only honest) police officer in Mumbai always maintains his stiff upper lip and cool demeanour.  But his life has taken an unexpected turn with the arrival of Irfan, a young boy off the streets whom he hires to help out around his restaurant.  Poppy, Chopra’s wife, now has a job at a boy’s school and is finding herself involved in matters over her head.
Chopra’s detective agency is already swamped with cases when a former colleague is accused of stealing Queen Elizabeth’s crown and the Koh-i-noor diamond.  Chopra is outraged and is determined to prove his former colleague’s innocence.  But with an unreliable ticker, he’s finding that he’s taken on more than he can handle.  The case heats up and their very lives are in danger the closer they get to the diamond.
A sequel to the the wonderful “The Unexpected Inheritance of Inspector Chopra” this story is for all those who love a good mystery with plenty of action and good old-fashioned dry humour.  I couldn’t put it down until I knew “whodunnit”.  I can’t wait to read another mystery involving these quirky but lovable heroes.
